latria
Worship; the service due to God.

Technical Meaning
The adoration owed to God alone, named from the Greek latreia. Catholic theology sets it at the head of a threefold distinction: latria to God, dulia to the saints and angels, and hyperdulia to Mary above the other saints. The Council of Trent and the Catechism both hold the line that no image and no saint receives latria; worship ends in God.
