United Reformed Church

It is a British union church formed in 1972 from the Congregational Church in England and Wales and the Presbyterian Church of England, joining congregational and presbyterian traditions in one body.

The United Reformed Church was created by Act of Parliament and inaugurated in 1972, uniting Congregational and Presbyterian churches in England and Wales. The Reformed Association of Churches of Christ joined in 1981 and the Congregational Union of Scotland joined in 2000. It is governed through church meetings, synods, and a General Assembly, holding together local congregational life and wider conciliar oversight.
