The branch that worships in bare halls without images, holding image worship to be a later corruption of the Jina's teaching.
The Sthanakavasi arose in the fifteenth century from Lonka Shah's reading of the texts against image worship. Its monks cover their mouths with the muhpatti at all times, and its halls carry no image of any Jina.
