It is a historically Black Baptist convention that emerged from the 1915 division of the National Baptist Convention, USA over control of the convention publishing house.
The National Baptist Convention of America traces its separation to the 1915 dispute over ownership and control of the National Baptist Publishing Board. It serves historically African American Baptist congregations through missions, Christian education, and its publishing work. It is distinct from the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., though the two bodies share common origins in the convention organized in 1895.
