What happened

On October 3, 2026, the Fazl Mosque in Southfields, London, reached its centenary. The mosque was formally inaugurated on October 3, 1926, two years after Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II laid its foundation stone during his visit to Britain. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat UK marked the centenary with a day titled Fazl Mosque: Beacon of Peace, beginning with congregational prayer before dawn and continuing with a street party for community members and neighbours in the afternoon.

The details

Guests at the formal session were given tours of the complex and of an exhibition in Mahmud Hall, which remained open to visitors through October 31, 2026. Messages from the Prime Minister and from the office of King Charles were read at the session. The mosque has been the centre of the Ahmadiyya community in Britain for a century: Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V was elected Khalifa there in 2003, and he resided at the mosque until his move to Islamabad, Tilford, in 2019.

Why it is recorded here
