Metrics

How every number is computed

This page is generated from the metric registry, the single source of truth for what each number on the State of the Archive means. Every metric stands here with its definition, its computation, what it excludes, who owns it, and what it does not mean. A metric whose computation is not yet connected to the site's data stands here defined, marked as registered, and renders no number until it can be computed truthfully. Definitions version 1.0.

Scale: what the archive contains

Entities in the tree

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of entities standing in the worldview tree, the site's registry of world views opened into their branches, families, and bodies.
How it is computed
Count of published TreeProfile records; the breakdown counts them by level.
What it excludes
Schisms are not entities and are not counted; unpublished profiles are excluded.

What it does not mean
An entity count describes the shape of the site's own registry. It says nothing about the size or standing of any tradition in the world.

Posts

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of published posts across the site's post types.
How it is computed
Sum of published records over the post models; the breakdown counts each post type.
What it excludes
Pages, essays, and reference records are not posts and are counted in their own metrics.
Unit

What it does not mean
A post count measures the archive's volume, not its completeness; a section can hold many posts and still lack whole subjects.

Works in the References register

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of works standing in the References register, each cited in Chicago bibliography form.
How it is computed
Count of ReferenceWork records; the breakdown counts them by the subjects they serve.
What it excludes
Works named inside a record's citations are not register entries until they stand in the register themselves.
Unit
count
Owner

What it does not mean
The register counts the works the site has formally cited. It is not a bibliography of the subject, and inclusion is not an endorsement of a work's conclusions.
Standing

Languages, scripts, and relationships

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of language records the site holds, with its writing scripts and its sourced language relationships.
How it is computed
Count of Language records, of LanguageScript records, and of published LanguageRelationship records, stated as three parts of one total.
What it excludes
Glossary terms are terminology, not languages; they are counted nowhere in this metric.
Unit

Owner
Languages editor

What it does not mean
The total joins three different kinds of record. The parts are stated separately on the card so the join is never hidden.
Standing

Calendar observances

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of observances standing in the site's calendar, across every tradition it covers.
How it is computed
Count of CalendarEvent records; the breakdown counts them by the tradition name each carries.
What it excludes
Dated occurrences are not events; one observance with three years of occurrences counts once.
Unit
count
Owner

What it does not mean
The calendar counts the observances the site has documented. A tradition with few entries is less documented here, not less observant in the world.

Religious art entries

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of entries standing in Religious Art and Worldviews, each an artwork or a body of work with its own page.
How it is computed
Count of published ArtEntry records.
What it excludes
Art profiles, themes, and artists are their own record kinds and are not counted as entries.
Unit
count
Owner

What it does not mean
An entry count measures the art section's volume. It does not rank traditions by their art, and a tradition with no figural art is documented by its profiles, not by entries it cannot have.

Methods

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of method records standing in the Methods section, split between executable methods and reference-only methods.
How it is computed
Count of method records by their kind, once the Methods section's records exist.
What it excludes
Workshop templates and intake forms are not methods.
Unit

Owner

What it does not mean

Library entries

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of entries standing in Libraries, the collections and reading rooms the work draws on.
How it is computed
Count of Library records.
What it excludes
The References register is a different record kind and is counted in its own metric.
Unit

Church directory organizations

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of organizations standing in the Church directory, the bodies the directory presents with their own pages.
How it is computed
Count of church directory organization records standing under the directory's two branch roots.
What it excludes
Local congregations and buildings are a later level of the directory and are not counted until that level stands.
Unit

Typed relationships

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of typed relationships the site holds between its records: the tags that bind records into the taxonomy, the language relationships, the results of schisms, and the Diptych's binding relations.
How it is computed
Count of ContentTag rows, published LanguageRelationship rows, SchismResult rows, and DiptychRelation rows, stated as parts of one total.
What it excludes
Untyped mentions inside a text are not relationships and are not counted.
Unit
count
Owner

What it does not mean
The total joins four kinds of relationship, and the parts are stated on the card. A relationship records a connection the site asserts; it is not a measure of any tradition's connectedness in the world.

Coverage: how completely each standard is met

Diptych Tier 1 gate pass rate

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of entities whose Diptych presentation passes the Tier 1 gate of the Diptych directive.
How it is computed
Entities passing the Tier 1 gate over all entities the Diptych presents, once gate results are stored as data.
What it excludes
Entities the Diptych does not present are excluded.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% The Diptych directive sets the gate as a condition of presentation.
Owner

What it does not mean
A gate pass measures the completeness of the site's comparison apparatus for an entity. It is not a judgment of the entity or its tradition.
Standing

Diptych slot coverage

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of Diptych slots that stand populated, partial, or justified as not applicable, across all entities.
How it is computed
Populated, partial, and justified slots over all slots the Diptych defines, once slot states are stored per entity.
What it excludes
Slots the directive does not define for an entity are excluded.
Unit
percentage
Target
At least 85% The Doc 29 target for slot coverage across the Diptych.
Owner
Diptych editor
Cadence

What it does not mean
Slot coverage measures how much of the comparison the site has written. An unwritten slot is a gap in the site's work, not in the tradition described.
Standing

Christian Assessment completeness

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The share of assessed entities whose Christian Assessment carries a reviewed verdict in all five senses.
How it is computed
ChristianAssessment records whose five sense verdicts all stand at a reviewed value, over all assessment records.
Numerator
Assessments with all five senses reviewed
Denominator
All assessment records
What it excludes
The hard-case register is measured by its own metric; records are counted here whether or not their entity is a hard case.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% of published entities The Christian Assessment directive requires a complete panel for every published entity.
Owner
Assessment editor
Cadence

What it does not mean
Completeness measures the review work the site has finished. Every verdict stands at Not yet reviewed until the named reviewers are appointed, so this number is expected to stand at zero and to say so.
Standing
In force from 2026-10-30 under definitions version 1.0.

Hard-case assessment coverage

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of the Christian Assessment's pre-populated hard cases whose assessments stand complete.
How it is computed
Hard cases with complete assessments over the cases standing in the hard-case register, once case assessments are stored against the register.
What it excludes
Cases are counted from the register; entities that are not hard cases are excluded.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% The Christian Assessment directive pre-populates the register so the hard cases cannot be quietly skipped.
Owner
Assessment editor
Cadence

What it does not mean
The hard cases are the placements the site itself flags as difficult. Their coverage measures the site's candor about its hardest calls, not the difficulty of the traditions involved.
Standing
In force from 2026-10-30 under definitions version 1.0.

Executable method rate

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The share of methods whose steps stand fully populated, so the method can actually be followed.
How it is computed
Methods with complete step lists over all method records, once the Methods section's records exist.
What it excludes
Reference-only methods are excluded from both parts; they are counted in the Methods total.
Unit
percentage
Target
At least 80% The Doc 29 target for executable methods.
Owner
Methods editor
Cadence
Daily
What it does not mean
The rate measures whether the site's methods are usable, not whether a method is sound; soundness belongs to the Methods section's own presentation.
Standing
In force from 2026-10-30 under definitions version 1.0.

Language relationship coverage

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The share of the site's registered languages that carry at least one published, sourced language relationship.
How it is computed
Languages with at least one published LanguageRelationship row, over all Language records.
Numerator
Languages with a published relationship
Denominator
All registered languages
What it excludes
Draft relationships do not count; a relationship without a source cannot publish and so cannot count.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% The language transversal directive makes the fabric the one table of record for every language.
Owner
Languages editor
Cadence
Daily
What it does not mean
Coverage measures how much of the language fabric the site has documented. A language without a relationship row is undocumented here, not unrelated in the world.
Standing
In force from 2026-10-30 under definitions version 1.0.

Reference attachment rate

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of works in the References register that are attached to at least one page, under the no-orphan rule.
How it is computed
Register works cited by at least one record, over all register works, once citations resolve structurally to register entries.
What it excludes
Citations that name a work in free text do not yet attach it; the exclusion is stated because it is the gap this metric exists to close.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% The no-orphan rule of the References directive.
Owner
References editor
Cadence
Daily
What it does not mean
Attachment measures the register's integration into the site. An unattached work is a defect in the site's citation apparatus, not a judgment of the work.
Standing
In force from 2026-10-30 under definitions version 1.0.

Origin narratives with all three layers

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The share of origin narrative records whose three layers all stand populated: the documented layer, the traditional layer, and the claimed products.
How it is computed
OriginPost records whose layers carry all three layers with text, over all origin narrative records on file.
Numerator
Narratives with all three layers populated
Denominator
All origin narrative records
What it excludes
Drafts are counted, because the rate measures the records' completeness; publication is a separate state and is named in the computation.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% The Origin Narrative amendment requires the three-layer form of every narrative.
Owner
History editor
Cadence
Daily
What it does not mean
The rate measures the completeness of records Red and the site are still verifying. A draft is unfinished editorial work, and its presence here is not a claim about any tradition's origins.
Standing
In force from 2026-10-30 under definitions version 1.0.

Section language-tag coverage

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of content in each section that carries a language tag, so the language fabric can gather it.
How it is computed
Tagged records over all records, per section, once language tagging is a stored field on section records.
What it excludes
Sections whose records cannot carry a language are excluded with their justification stated.
Unit
percentage
Target
At least 95% The Doc 29 target for language tagging.
Owner
Languages editor
Cadence
Daily
What it does not mean
The tag measures the site's cross-referencing, not a text's linguistic character.
Standing
In force from 2026-10-30 under definitions version 1.0.

Timeline events standing as posts

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of the history master plan's enumerated timeline events that stand published as event posts.
How it is computed
Published history events over the events enumerated in the master plan's tables, once the enumeration is stored as data.
What it excludes
Events the plan names only as framework states are excluded, under the consent rule that governs them.
Unit
percentage
Target
Tracked, rising Doc 29 sets no fixed target; the plan's volume lands in batches.
Owner
History editor
Cadence
Daily
What it does not mean
The rate measures the history build's progress against its own plan. It does not measure how much history a tradition has.
Standing

World views with their history documented

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The share of the seventy registered world views whose history stands documented at the registry's standard, rendered with its four states: documented in full, documented in part, not yet documented, and held under a community framework.
How it is computed
World views whose history dataset stands complete over all registered world views; the four states come from the registry's dataset status for each world view.
Numerator
World views with a complete history dataset
Denominator
All registered world views
What it excludes
No world view is excluded. The framework state is reported separately and never folded into the documented share.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% documented in full Doc 30 requires every registered world view to stand with its dataset status shown openly.
Owner
History editor
Cadence
Daily
What it does not mean
This number measures the completeness of the site's own history documentation. It is not a measure of any world view's history, importance, or truth.

Provenance: how well claims are sourced

Facts carrying a source

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of the site's recorded facts that carry a source identifier.
How it is computed
Facts with a source over all recorded facts, at the fact level the citation rule defines, once facts are stored as units.
What it excludes
Records whose form is itself a citation, such as register works, are excluded.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% The citation rule of the Governance page: every work carries its sources.
Owner
References editor
Cadence
Daily
What it does not mean
Presence measures whether the site attached a source, not whether the source is strong; strength is the tier distribution's subject.
Standing
In force from 2026-10-30 under definitions version 1.0.

Facts carrying a confidence

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of the site's recorded facts that carry a stated confidence value.
How it is computed
Facts with a confidence value over all recorded facts, once facts are stored as units.
What it excludes
Facts the governing directives exempt from confidence are excluded with the exemption stated.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% The citation rule requires the confidence beside the source.
Owner
References editor
Cadence

What it does not mean
A confidence value records the site's own certainty about its statement. It is not a probability that a tradition's claim is true.
Standing

Facts carrying a named reviewer

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of the site's recorded facts that carry a named reviewer.
How it is computed
Facts with a named reviewer over all recorded facts, once facts are stored as units.
What it excludes
Facts under a standing editorial review rather than a named reviewer are excluded with that stated.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% The governance standards require a named reviewer where a judgment is recorded.
Owner
Data engineer

What it does not mean
A named reviewer is an accountability device for the site's work. It confers no authority on the fact reviewed.
Standing

Citations resolving to the register

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of the site's source references that resolve to a live entry in the References register.
How it is computed
Resolving references over all references, once citations resolve structurally to register entries.
What it excludes
Sources that are themselves primary documents held off-register by the citation spec are excluded with that stated.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% The citation rule and the register's no-orphan rule, read from the citing side.
Owner
References editor
Cadence

What it does not mean
Resolution measures the citation apparatus, not the sources. An unresolved citation is the site's defect.
Standing
In force from 2026-10-30 under definitions version 1.0.

Posts with a primary source

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The share of published posts, across the record kinds that carry the citation lists, that carry at least one primary source.
How it is computed
Published records with a non-empty primary source list over all published records of the counted kinds: history events, tradition posts, world views, church records, terminology terms, FAQ posts, Favorite Scripture posts, Notable Triads, and origin narratives.
Numerator
Counted posts with a primary source
Denominator
All counted published posts
What it excludes
Record kinds that carry their sources in another established form, named in the citations specification, are excluded so the rate measures one apparatus honestly.
Unit
percentage
Target
At least 90% The Doc 29 target for primary source coverage.
Owner
References editor

Posts with a secondary source

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The share of published posts, across the record kinds that carry the citation lists, that carry at least one secondary source.
How it is computed
Published records with a non-empty secondary source list over all published records of the same counted kinds as the primary source rate.
Numerator
Counted posts with a secondary source
Denominator

What it excludes
The same exclusions as the primary source rate, and for the same reason.
Unit
percentage
Target

Source tier distribution

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The distribution of the site's sources across the five reliability tiers, with the lowest tier's count tracked as it falls.
How it is computed
Sources counted by assigned tier, once sources carry tier assignments.
What it excludes
Sources not yet tiered are reported as their own part, never silently assigned.
Unit
count
Target
Reported; the tier-five count tracked downward Doc 29 reports the distribution rather than targeting a shape.
Owner

Steelman review rate

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of the Diptych's evaluative slots marked as steelman presentations that carry a named reviewer.
How it is computed
Steelman slots with a named reviewer over all steelman slots, once steelman marking is stored per slot.
What it excludes
Non-evaluative slots are excluded.

Median record age

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures

How it is computed
The median of days since last verified over each type's records, once verification dates are stored per record.
What it excludes
Record kinds with no verification cadence are excluded with that stated.

Ninetieth-percentile record age

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures

How it is computed
The ninetieth percentile of days since last verified, once verification dates are stored per record.
What it excludes
The same exclusions as the median age.

Records within their review cadence

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

Posts outside the taxonomy

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of published posts, of the kinds the taxonomy gathers, that carry no tag in the site's one taxonomy and so appear on no facet page.
How it is computed
Published records of the tagged kinds with zero ContentTag rows, counted across those kinds.
What it excludes

Tree entities with an unresolved parent

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures

How it is computed
Published TreeProfile records above level one whose parent slug resolves to no published profile.
What it excludes
First-level entities have no parent by design and are excluded.

Relationships pointing at nothing

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures

How it is computed
Published and draft LanguageRelationship rows whose language or target fails to resolve against the live record sets the fabric defines.
What it excludes

What it measures
The share of the site's relationships that render from both of the records they join.
How it is computed
Bidirectionally rendered relationships over all relationships of the kinds that render from both ends, once rendering is checked as data.
What it excludes
One-directional kinds, such as a tag on a record, are excluded with that stated.
Unit

Unresolved duplicate candidates

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The number of record pairs flagged by near-match detection as possible duplicates and not yet resolved either way.
How it is computed
Open duplicate flags from the detection pass, once near-match detection runs as a stored job.
What it excludes
Pairs already ruled distinct stand excluded with the ruling kept.

Redirect chains over one hop

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The number of addresses on the site that resolve through more than one redirect.
How it is computed
Chains longer than one hop in the site's redirect set, once redirects are inventoried as data.
What it excludes
The platform's own www and scheme redirects are excluded; they are one hop by construction.
Unit

Records under a superseded schema

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The number of records stored under a schema version the site has superseded.
How it is computed
Records whose stored schema version differs from the current version of their kind, once records carry schema versions.
What it excludes
Kinds that have never been versioned are excluded with that stated.
Unit

Taxonomy terms gathering nothing

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of taxonomy terms that stand as leaves gathering no tagged content of their own: branches of the site's one taxonomy with nothing under them.
How it is computed
TaxonomyTerm records with no child terms and no ContentTag rows naming them.
What it excludes
Terms that exist as parents are excluded by the leaf condition; a term gathering through its children is not empty.
Unit
count
Target
0 The de-monolithize directive's rule that the tree carries no empty nodes, applied to the taxonomy.
Owner
Data engineer

Taxonomy parents with one child

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of taxonomy terms carrying exactly one child term, standing uncollapsed for the collapse review the directives require.
How it is computed
TaxonomyTerm records with exactly one child term.
What it excludes
A single child that carries its own distinct content justifies the parent; the count names the review queue, not a set of proven defects.
Unit

Symmetry: the Diptych's evenness

Comparisons over the asymmetry threshold

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The number of rendered Diptych comparisons whose two sides differ in completeness by more than the threshold the Diptych directive sets.
How it is computed
Comparisons with an asymmetry score over twenty percent, once asymmetry is computed and stored per comparison.
What it excludes
Pairs the Diptych does not render are excluded.

Median comparison asymmetry

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures

Comparisons blocked by a gate failure

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The number of Diptych comparisons prevented from rendering because a gate failed.
How it is computed
Blocked comparisons in the Diptych's render path, once gate outcomes are stored.
What it excludes

Mutual critiques rendering one way only

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The number of Diptych mutual-critique comparisons that render in one direction only, where the directive requires both.
How it is computed
One-sided mutual critiques over the comparisons that carry the slot, once per-direction rendering is stored.
What it excludes
Comparisons without the mutual-critique slot are excluded.
Unit

Binding marks still at research in progress

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of Diptych binding marks, the agreement and alignment indicators on the comparison spreads, that still stand at Research in progress instead of a settled call.
How it is computed
DiptychRelation records whose relation or either alignment stands at research in progress.
What it excludes
Pairs outside the curated set carry no binding marks and are excluded.

Internal diversity

History events carrying their diversity note

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The share of published history events that carry their internal diversity note, the field that records how the event's own tradition was not of one mind.
How it is computed
Published HistoryEvent records with a non-empty internal diversity note over all published history events.
Numerator
Published events with the note populated
Denominator
All published history events
What it excludes
The Indigenous framework's held events are excluded from both parts; they stand under the consent rule and are reported in the restricted count.
Unit

Entities with a disputed placement

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The number of tree entities whose placement in the tree stands flagged as disputed on their own record.
How it is computed
Published TreeProfile records carrying the disputed placement flag.
What it excludes
Entities with additional placements that are not disputed are excluded; the flag is the count's condition.

Disputed placements rendering both positions

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of disputed-placement entities whose pages render both positions with their sources.
How it is computed
Disputed entities rendering both positions over all disputed entities, once the rendering is checked as data.
What it excludes
Entities whose dispute is recorded without a second sourced position stand in neither part until the second position is sourced.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% The de-monolithize directive requires contested placements to show their positions with sources.
Owner
Data engineer

What it does not mean
Disclosure measures the site's fairness in presenting a disagreement. It does not settle the disagreement, and the rate confers no victory on either position.
Standing

Contested verdicts with two reviewers

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The share of Contested verdicts in the Christian Assessment that carry two independent named reviewers, as the verdict vocabulary requires.
How it is computed
Contested verdicts with two reviewers over all Contested verdicts, once any verdict stands at Contested.
What it excludes
No verdict stands at Contested while every verdict stands at Not yet reviewed; the metric renders when its denominator first exists.
Unit
percentage
Target
100% The Christian Assessment directive's verdict vocabulary: Contested requires two named positions with sources.

Entities flagged as rendered monoliths

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The number of entities known to hold internal schools that stand flagged as rendered as a single block, against the site's anti-monolith rule.
How it is computed
Entities carrying the monolith flag, once flagging is a stored review outcome.
What it excludes
Entities whose internal schools are not yet known to the site cannot be flagged and are the diversity note's concern instead.
Unit

Structural health

Entities reachable within four clicks

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The share of tree entities at the fourth level and below whose full parent chain resolves to a root, so the tree index and the chain together reach them within four clicks of the home page.
How it is computed
Level four and deeper TreeProfile records with a completely resolving parent chain over all such records.
Numerator
Deep entities with a resolving chain
Denominator
All level four and deeper entities
What it excludes
Entities above the fourth level are excluded; the directive's limit governs the deep levels.
Unit
percentage
Target

Lists mixing levels without labels

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The number of lists on the site that present entities from more than one level without labeling the levels.
How it is computed
Violating lists in the build validation's sweep, once the sweep reports as data rather than as a build result.
What it excludes
Lists whose design labels every level stand excluded by the condition itself.
Unit
count
Target
0 The de-monolithize directive forbids mixing levels in one list unlabeled.

Pages with no inbound internal link

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The number of published pages that no other page on the site links to.
How it is computed
Published pages with zero inbound internal links, from the link inventory once it is stored.
What it excludes
Pages reachable only through the sitemap are counted; that is the defect the metric names.
Unit
count
Target
0 The post directive's surface rules leave no page unlinked.

Mega menu render time

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The ninety-fifth percentile render time of the site's largest mega menu, against the performance budget.
How it is computed
Field measurements of the menu's render, once performance field data is collected.
What it excludes
Laboratory measurements are excluded; the metric is defined over field data so it describes readers' experience.
Unit

Target
Within budget Doc 29 states the budget condition without a figure; the figure is set when field data first stands.

Sitemap addresses against indexed pages

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The gap between the addresses the sitemap offers and the pages the search index holds, stated as the two numbers and their difference.
How it is computed
The sitemap's address count against the Search Console indexed count, once the console's data is connected to the computation.
What it excludes
No exclusions; the gap is the metric.
Unit
count
Target
Gap reported Doc 29 requires the gap reported, not a target gap.

Editorial throughput: whether the gaps are closing

Posts published per month

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The number of posts the site publishes per month, by post type.
How it is computed
Publications per calendar month from stored publication dates, once posts carry them.

Registered: its computation is not yet connected, and it renders no number.

What it measures
The percentage-point change in the headline coverage metrics over the quarter.
How it is computed
The difference between this quarter's and last quarter's snapshot values for the coverage family, once a quarter of snapshots stands.
What it excludes

What it measures
The ten registered world views whose history documentation stands thinnest, each with the missing piece named: no dataset, a dataset below its threshold, or a framework standing in place of a dataset.
How it is computed
The registry's dataset status for every world view, ordered by state and then by published event count, the first ten taken; the missing piece is the status and, where a threshold stands, the distance to it.
What it excludes
No world view is excluded; the framework world view appears in its own state and is never ranked as if it were a dataset.

What it does not mean
This list measures the site's documentation arrears. A world view's place on it describes the site's work, and it is published precisely so the arrears are visible rather than buried.
Standing
In force from 2026-10-30 under definitions version 1.0.

The records longest awaiting review

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The records that have waited longest for the review their standing requires: the origin narrative drafts awaiting verification, oldest first, with their waiting time stated.
How it is computed
Origin narrative records standing unpublished in draft, ordered by the date they were drafted into the site, each with the days it has waited.
What it excludes
Published records are excluded; their review cadences are the freshness family's subject once verification dates are stored.

What it does not mean
The list names editorial arrears the site owes named reviewers. A record's wait describes the site's queue, not the record's worth.

High-traffic pages with the lowest provenance

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The ten highest-traffic pages whose provenance completeness stands lowest: the gap that matters most, because it is what readers are actually seeing.
How it is computed
Pages ranked by traffic against their provenance completeness, once traffic data is connected to the computation.
What it excludes
No page is excluded by its subject; ranking by traffic is the metric's whole point.

What it does not mean
Traffic data is not connected to this computation, and the panel says so in place of the list rather than present a substitute ranking as if it were this one. The absence is itself one of the archive's honest gaps.

Assessments not yet reviewed, by tradition

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The count of Christian Assessment records still standing at Not yet reviewed, grouped by the tradition of the entity each assesses.
How it is computed
Assessment records with any verdict at Not yet reviewed, grouped by their entity's root tradition in the tree.
What it excludes
No exclusions; every unreviewed assessment stands in exactly one group.

What it does not mean
The count measures the review appointment's standing. It is published so the site's largest single backlog is visible on the public page, as the directive requires.

Records withheld, by reason

Computed and rendered on the State of the Archive.

What it measures
The count of records the site withholds from public display, grouped by the reason for withholding, so the site shows what it is withholding and why.
How it is computed
History events standing at a not-for-public-display status, grouped by the standing that holds them: the Indigenous consent framework, under which a community's own foundational histories publish only with that community's granted consent.
What it excludes
Drafts are not withheld records; they are unfinished work and are counted in the overdue list, not here.

What it does not mean
Withholding under the consent framework is the site keeping its word to the communities concerned. The count exists so the withholding is open, never silent.

Changes to the definitions

  • 2026-10-30 The registry's first publication: the twelve families of Doc 29 stand defined at definitions version 1.0, and the metrics whose computation the site's data supports stand computed from this date.

When a definition changes, the version increments and the trend on the State of the Archive carries a marker at the change with a note, so no trend is ever silently stitched across a change of meaning.
