“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God”
Tagged: Christian
The passage
The sentence levels the whole human race: “For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Jew and Greek stand in the same sentence, and the sentence is the reason the next one can be spoken, that they are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Where it stands
Romans 3 closes the long indictment that began at Romans 1:18, where Paul shows the whole world accountable to God. Verse 23 is the indictment's shortest summary, and the gospel of justification by faith is announced immediately on its far side.
