Christ teaches the Trinity

The passage
In the farewell discourse Jesus tells the disciples that He is going to the Father, and that it is to their advantage, because the Helper will then come. The Spirit of truth will guide them into all the truth, He will glorify Christ, and He will take what belongs to the Son, and what the Father has is the Son's, and declare it to them. Father, Son, and Spirit act here as one God in three persons.
Where it stands
John 16 stands in the upper room discourse of John 13 to 17, spoken on the night before the crucifixion. The promise of the Spirit in this passage is the church's charter for Pentecost and one of the clearest teachings on the Trinity in the Gospels.
