Spiritual struggle against evil is real

The passage
The passage states plainly what the Christian struggle is against. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Where it stands
Ephesians 6 closes the letter with the armor of God. This verse is the reason the armor is needed at all: it names the enemy before it lists a single piece of equipment.
