Orthodox Church in America

It is the autocephalous church in North America whose roots lie in the Russian Orthodox mission to Alaska that began in 1794.

The Orthodox Church in America received its tomos of autocephaly from the Russian Orthodox Church in 1970, a status not recognized by all Orthodox churches. It is led by the Metropolitan of All America and Canada and includes dioceses across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
