Secular Buddhism

The modern reading that keeps the Buddha's ethics and meditation while setting aside rebirth, karma as cosmic law, and the supernatural frame of the early texts.

Secular Buddhism is a movement of the modern West and of Asia's modernizers, which presents the dharma as a practical philosophy of attention and compassion. The traditional vehicles record it as a reading that leaves their doctrine behind; its own teachers present it as a return to the Buddha's core.
