Significance
The Orthodox Transfiguration, on August 6, celebrates Christ revealed in glory on Mount Tabor before Peter, James, and John, with Moses and Elijah beside him. It is one of the twelve great feasts, kept even within the Dormition fast. In the Orthodox understanding the light of Tabor is the uncreated light of God, which the saints may behold.
Observance
The first fruits of the harvest, especially grapes, are brought to church and blessed, and the Divine Liturgy is celebrated.
