Significance
The Orthodox Presentation of the Lord, on February 2, celebrates Christ being brought to the Temple forty days after his birth, where Simeon and Anna met him; the feast is therefore also called the Meeting of the Lord. It is one of the twelve great feasts. Churches on the Julian calendar keep it thirteen days later in civil reckoning.
Observance
The Divine Liturgy is celebrated with the festal hymns, and candles are blessed in many churches as at Candlemas.
