Recurrence: Western Easter computus (the second Sunday of Easter, seven days after Easter Sunday).
Significance
The second Sunday of Easter closes the eight-day octave of Easter, in which each day is celebrated as a continuation of Easter Sunday itself. Its Gospel tells of the apostle Thomas, who doubted the resurrection until he saw the risen Christ and confessed him. Since 2000 the day has also been kept as Divine Mercy Sunday.
Observance
The newly baptized set aside their white garments in the older custom the day recalls, and the liturgy proclaims the mercy of the risen Christ.
