Revealed prayers of Bahá'u'lláh, the Báb, and 'Abdu'l-Bahá for occasions, needs, and gatherings of every kind.
Historical Context
Beyond the three obligatory prayers, Bahá'í scripture contains hundreds of revealed prayers by Bahá'u'lláh, the Báb, and 'Abdu'l-Bahá, gathered in official prayer books under headings such as aid and assistance, children and youth, healing, marriage, the departed, praise and gratitude, and unity. Bahá'ís regard these revealed words as the pattern for prayer and use them alongside their own spontaneous supplications. As with the obligatory prayers, the authorized translations are maintained by the Bahá'í World Centre, so the texts are linked here rather than reproduced.
Use and Practice
Bahá'í prayers are recited at devotional gatherings in homes and Bahá'í centers, at the Nineteen Day Feast, at holy days, marriages, and funerals, and in private devotion morning and evening. Meetings characteristically open and close with prayer.
